Civil Protection extends alert for heavy rain in southern Catalonia until tonight
New mobile alert sent to residents in five counties advising against unnecessary travel and warning to stay away from flood-prone areas

Civil Protection has extended the alert for heavy rain in five counties of southern Catalonia due to the risk of further rainfall until tonight.
All residents in Baix Camp, Ribera d'Ebre, Montsià, Baix Ebre, and Terra Alta received mobile alerts warning that the heavy rain will continue.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and minimize travel, as landslides may occur.
The message also advises people to avoid flood-prone areas and not to cross rivers, streams, or get close to riverbanks.

This alert comes after a severe downpour linked to Storm Alice left one person seriously injured and 17 others with minor injuries during what has been described as a "very dangerous" rainfall event.
Despite the severity of the situation, most residents were prepared for the heavy rains thanks to early warnings.
On Sunday night, officials had already announced school closures in the affected areas, recommended remote working for those who could, and urged residents to stay indoors.
