An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 was registered at 12:24am in the early hours of Thursday morning in Alt Urgell county in the Lleida region.

According to Catalonia's cartography and geology institute (ICGCat), the epicenter of the seismic activity was detected in the town of Cava, near the border with Andorra, where the tremors were also noted.

Several aftershocks of magnitudes between 2.9 and 3.2 were registered throughout the night.

A witness told Catalan media that the tremors were felt in the walls and that they lasted no more than a few seconds but described them as "scary."

No damage was reported as a result of the earthquake, although the authorities said they had received five calls on the 112 emergency telephone number and 226 inquiries on ICGCat’s website.
