Covid-19 cases in Catalonia have been stable for the last three weeks, according to official figures released by the Catalan health department.

After a slight increase in cases registered on August 21, the total number of Covid-19 infections has maintained around 5,700 every week

However, the biggest increase was registered in the second week of August (7-13), when 6,328 cases were registered.

During the first week of July, Covid-19 cases in Catalonia began to increase and by the end of the month pharmacies noticed an increase in sales of Covid tests

Despite the stabilization in cases, hospitalizations due to Covid-19 have been increasing in Catalonia for the past seven weeks.

According to official figures, there are 496 hospitalized patients right now. The last time similar figures were recorded was in the second week of the year, January 9-15.

In the last week, the number of patients in the ICU has slightly increased to 17, up from the 14 patients that were registered in the past five weeks. The three new ICU patients are from the region of Lleida, in western Catalonia.
