Cinemas, theaters and gyms in the areas affected by Covid-19 outbreaks might open next week, according to the Catalan government.

Cultural and sports venues were closed for two weeks beginning on July 18 under the new restrictions imposed to some 3 million Catalans living in the Barcelona, Lleida and Figueres areas.

After a meeting with local authorities, the government's representative in Barcelona, Juli Fernàndez, told the press that Civil Protection will review the situation in sectors such as culture and sport.

Earlier this week summer festivals were already granted permission to operate again, and events such as Cruïlla XXS and Grec resumed.

Civil Protection has also given its go-ahead to Barcelona's zoo, Olympic park in Montjuïc (Anella Olímpica) and Parc del Fòrum, including them in the exceptions to the restrictions.

Yet, Tibidabo, the capital's iconic amusement park, is still waiting for an answer to the Civil Protection's crisis committee, Procicat.

In their meeting this Saturday, local authorities also approved without exceptions the latest restrictions on nightlife.
