The Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation (CCMA) will merge its two brands, public broadcaster TV3 and radio station Catalunya Ràdio, creating a new united brand identity for both under the name of 3Cat.

The new name will also be the title of the company's streaming platform, which will be launched in the fall.

After the decision, the names of Catalunya Ràdio and TV3 will disappear in the coming years, but no date has been yet announced as it will be based on the evolution of the transition that just started and the acceptance of Catalonia's residents.

Focusing on "revamping the classic structure of both TV and radio, 3Cat will be a big content creator factory," the company announced.

The process will take six phases, where the brand will start taking center stage. This is "the biggest rebranding made up to this day," Pauli Subirà, head of branding at CCMA, said during the announcement of the brand. The new logo will have a 'magenta' color that will also differentiate it from Netflix or YouTube's red corporate colors.

While the first phase has already started with the announcement of the name, it will continue with the launch of the CatRàdio name, leaving aside Catalunya Ràdio during the general rebranding process in September. In the same month, 3Cat will start appearing in many audiovisual productions.

The fifth and sixth phases of the company's process will follow the launch of the streaming platform and will mark the final name changes for TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio.

Looking to the future

The brand takes over "the values and the most important identifiers," referring to the 3 of TV3 and the Cat of Catalunya Ràdio.

The plan will leave behind "very emotional brands," as Rosa Romà, CCMA president, said. 3Cat, as she states, is the "evolution and transformation to promote the Catalan Corporation towards the future."

3Cat will also be the streaming platform that will guarantee access to "Catalan quality content from any place and at any time."

The main brands will be merged, leaving aside Súper 3 and the teens channel, which will have their own titles that will be announced in the near future.
