The new presidential candidate, Quim Torra, said he is "honored" to have been chosen as the successor of Carles Puigdemont. "Honored for the trust placed in me. I accept with the responsibility and willingness to serve the country, following the request by the legitimate president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and the rest of my colleagues at Junts per Catalunya," he said in a comment on Twitter from Berlin.

Torra's party has published some pictures of the new presidential candidate, Puigdemont and the group spokeswoman, Elsa Artadi, in a meeting today in Berlin. Puigdemont thanked Torra for assuming the task in such "extreme" circumstances.
