Catalan Parliament president, Roger Torrent, on Sunday addressed an international organization representing French-speaking territories a year after his predecessor informed the same assembly of her prosecution over the independence bid.

This time, Torrent informed the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF in French) that Carme Forcadell is now in prison: “She is in pre-trial detention for allowing an open debate in a democratic European parliament,” Torrent told the assembly.

Last year's meeting

At last year’s APF, Forcadell told the meeting of 83 French-speaking territories about the prosecution by the Spanish authorities of five parliament bureau members for allowing a debate and a vote on an independence referendum in the Catalan Parliament.
