Junts general secretary 'successfully' treated for heart attack
Doctors perform cardiac catheterization on Jordi Turull after Monday’s hospitalization
The general secretary of the pro-independence political party Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull has undergone a cardiac catheterization after being hospitalized at the Hospital de Bellvitge on Monday following a heart attack.
According to the party, the treatment was “successful” and Turull is now in stable condition and recovering.
Turull, 57 years old, has been secretary general of Junts since June 2022.
After serving as spokesperson for the Catalan government under Carles Puigdemont, Turull was imprisoned for his role in the 2017 independence push, before eventually being pardoned by Pedro Sánchez's Socialist executive in June 2021.
