The president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, was awarded a prize from a unionist civil society group in Catalonia, the Catalan Civil Society (SCC).

The SCC has positioned itself as frontally rejecting the idea that there are political prisoners in Spain, and is also strongly opposed to independence.

Giving him the award of 'Wisdom' were president of the organization José Rosiñol and vice president Miriam Tey. The two traveled to Strasbourg to express their gratitude with his support for Spain's unity. Tajani, for his part, stated that it was "an honor" to receive the prize.
