People living in Catalonia who received a coronavirus vaccine abroad can now get the EU Digital Covid Certificate if they present proof of vaccination at a primary care center (CAP).

Health authorities announced in an interview with the Catalan public radio on Thursday that a new system has been put in place so that citizens could download the Covid vaccination passport even if they had been inoculated against the virus outside of Catalonia.

Health officials will only issue a certificate for people who received vaccines previously authorized by the World Health Organization, which currently include Pfizer/BioNTech, Oxford/AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Sinopharm, and Sinovac.

Nearly 60% fully immunized

As of August 4, 2021, 5,202,649 residents have been given the first dose of the vaccine, 66% of the total population. Out of those, 4,097,898 have also been administered a second dose (52.1% of the total population). 4,608,756 residents are considered to be fully immunized (58.5%). Under 65s who have already had the virus are only required to have the first dose, and others have received a single-dose jab. Therefore, the % of two doses administered and % fully immunized do not match.
