Greece removed from updated list of countries from which passengers need negative PCR test

Spain requires travellers from countries severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to present a negative PCR test upon their arrival.

In order to be allowed into Spain by sea or air, visitors will have to demonstrate they have tested negative for the virus within 72 hours prior to travelling. 

In the latest list of countries from which arrivals will need to show a negative PCR test to enter Spain, Greece has been removed. The update comes into effect for arrivals on Monday, February 8. 

Test results will be checked before boarding and travellers can face fines if they fail to provide proof – in this case, they will have to take an antigen test and might be barred from entry if positive. Passengers can also be denied entry onto the plane or ship if they fail to provide negative PCR test results.

For EU countries and those within the Schengen area, risk levels will be determined by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

The ECDC publishes a map every week with the current risk status of regions indicated by a traffic light system of green, orange or red – and grey for those with not enough information –, as determined by the 14-day incidence and positivity rates of Covid-19.

The negative PCR test will be mandatory for those travelling from states in red or grey.

Countries outside the EU-EEA will be labelled 'at risk' when the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days is above 150.

The full list of countries affected will be published on https://www.mscbs.gob.es/ and on https://www.spth.gob.es and will be updated every two weeks – every new update will come into force seven days after being published.
