The first doses of Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Spain on Saturday, as was announced on the Spanish health ministry's Twitter account.

Inoculations will begin on Sunday, in following with the European Commission rollout plan, with the first person in Spain receiving the jab in Guadalajara, Castile La Mancha, and the first person in Catalonia receiving it at a nursing home in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat later on the same day.

Catalan health authorities stated on Thursday that Catalonia's first recipients would be Feixa Llarga nursing home residents and staff in the city neighboring Barcelona to the south. The vaccination campaign will begin there at midday, with vaccines dispensed elsewhere throughout Catalonia from 3 pm.

1,595 doses will be sent to Catalonia this weekend, while another 60,000 will be sent every Monday and will be administered every Tuesday. Authorities expect to dispense 700,000 doses of the Pfizer shot to nursing home residents and staff, as well as other health care professionals, by the end of March.
