The second edition of the Viu Montjuïc festival will turn Barcelona's famous hill overlooking the city into a culture park on October 8 and 9

The weekend includes a packed program of activities of different types, all free, and the majority do not need prior inscription

People will be able to enjoy guided tours of the park, family activities, open days and guided tours of museums and exhibitions, as well as concerts and dance and theater performances.

Rediscover the fresh air that the parks of Barcelona's iconic hill offer and get involved in the fantastic selection of cultural, historical, scientific, and natural treasures to be found in Montjuïc.

Enjoy food and great music all day on both Saturday and Sunday at the Joan Brassa Gardens, where a selection of DJs from some of the music associations of the city will be on the decks.

One of the Catalan capital's best art museums, the Joan Miró Foundation, will be opening its doors completely free of charge for the whole weekend as part of the festival too. No prior inscription is required, either. For an even more detailed experience tailored to children, the center is organizing family activities each morning at 11.30, titled 'the long journey of Joan Miró,' letting children learn about one of Catalonia's foremost artistic geniuses.

The Montjuïc Castle is also allowing visitors in for free too, as well as offering a series of guided talks about the relevance of the fort through the history of the city, and another focussing on what the castle went through during the civil war.

Other locations offering open door experiences include the Espai Bombers firefighters center, the Teatre Lliure theatre, Mies Van Der Rohe Foundation, the Refugi 307 civil war bomb shelter, the Botanic Gardens, and the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia.

The Montjuïc Castle and Mercat de les Flors will also be host to a series of dance and theatrical performances across the weekend too.
