The 32nd edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion festival kicked off on Tuesday in Sant Pau's Recinte Modernista, with a focus on sustainability, circularity and creativity.

From October 24 to 27, two dozen designers and brands will show their creations on the catwalk. Brands include Custo Barcelona, Lola Casademunt by Maite, Dominnico, and Simorra, among others.

The first show, 080 Reborn, started the week off with a focuse on recyclable clothes and giving a second life to garments. Models showed off second-hand clothing at the catwalk, an initiative which the show first started doing during the 30th edition of 080.

The stylists Fermin+Gilles were in charge of creating the outfits, emphasizing the importance of re-using clothes - especially denim, one of the most resource-heavy, environmentally damaging items of clothing.

Other collections shown in 080 are also incorporating a sustainable perspective with recycled materials and atemporal apparel.

"080 is a reference in the south of Europe, and we have the opportunity to give international visibility to Catalan designers and brands," said Jordi Torrades, General Director of Comerç.

Torrades also mentioned the Catalan government's commitment to Barcelona fashion week as "they work on strengthening their competitiveness and visibility."

The Director of the Commerce, Crafts and Fashion Consortium of Catalonia (CCAM), Agnès Russiñol, emphasized that it can be a space to "boost circular fashion and give visibility to upcycling."

The CCAM also incentivized the use of diverse and inclusive models of all races, body types and gender identities to better represent society.

On top of the 24 shows, 080 Barcelona Fashion will also host two talks about EU regulations concerning textiles.
