One of the most famous towns of the Catalan Costa Brava, Lloret de Mar, expects a good tourist season for this year, with similar numbers to last year's summer campaign.

Elizabeth Keegan, head of the Lloret Turisme body, told media outlets on Thursday morning that bookings are at "a good rhythm." This follows the trend seen during the first five months of the year, when visitor numbers remained steady compared to 2024.

Asked about the dependency on the Ukrainian and Russian markets, Keegan explained that Lloret has been looking for other nationalities, especially Spaniards, Poles, and a little more Germans than usual. There are also some Irish visitors, and an increase in French and Belgian nationals.

Lloret de Mar "is a resilient destination that can adapt depending on the situation," Keegan said and referred to these new markets as "strategic" to focus and promote the area.

Ahead of the summer, the city council has launched a campaign to warn visitors to respect nature and culture and obey civic rules. Meanwhile, the restaurant guild has also launched a campaign to see people wearing t-shirts in bars and restaurants, regardless of whether they are on terraces or inside. "It is important to let people understand that they need to be well dressed in public and private areas," head of the guild, Marc Linares, said.

"There is a new visitor profile with a higher acquisition power," Linares said, after a change across Lloret de Mar's restaurant sector since the Covid-19 pandemic.
