'Two days, one night,' 'The great beauty,' 'Nymphomaniac' and 'La isla mínima' nominated for Gaudí Best European Film

The Catalan Film Academy has announced the 10 European films to be candidates for the 7th Gaudí Awards, the main cinema competition in Catalonia. Among others, these include: 'Deux jours, une nuit' ('Two days, one night'), written and directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne; 'La grande belleza' ('The great beauty'), directed by Paolo Sorrentino; 'La Vénus à fourrure' ('Venus in Furs'), by Roman Polanski; 'Nymphomaniac: Vol. I and Vol. II', written and directed by Lars von Trier; and, the Spanish 'La isla mínima', directed by Alberto Rodríguez. The award ceremony will take place in Barcelona at the end of January. The nominations were selected by a committee appointed by the Board of the Catalan Film Academy.

Barcelona (ACN).- The Catalan Film Academy has announced its 10 European nominations to be competing for the VIIGaudí Awards, which are the annual awards of the local film industry. This is the most important film event in Catalonia. Among others, the titles include: 'Deux jours, une nuit' ('Two days, one night'), written and directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne; 'La grande belleza' ('The great beauty'), directed by Paolo Sorrentino; 'La Vénus à fourrure'('Venus in Furs'), by Roman Polanski; 'Nymphomaniac: Vol. I and Vol. II ', written and directed by Lars von Trier, and the Spanish' La isla mínima', directed by Alberto Rodriguez. The films were selected by a committee appointed by the Board of the Catalan Film Academy. 


The judges for this year’s selection were Covadonga G. Lahera, film critic and representative of the Catalan Association of Writers and Film Critics - ACECC; Rosa Llinàs, academic and president of the Catalan Federation of Cineclubs; Jaume Ripoll, academic, co-founder and editorial director of the online movie company Filmin; Martín Samper, academic director and producer of No Hay Banda; Nuria Vidal, film critic and representative of the Catalan Association of Film Writers and Critics – ACECC; and, Roc Villas, academic and former director of the Cinematheque of Catalonia.

Alongside the above titles, the remaining candidates being entered for this year’s 7th Gaudí Awards are: 'Ida', directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, and written by Pawel Pawlikowski and Rebecca Lenkiewicz; 'Kis uykusu' ('Winter Sleep'), by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, written by Ebru Ceylan and Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Also 'L'inconnu du lac' ('The Stranger by the Lake'), written and directed by Alain Guiraudie; 'Magical Girl', written and directed by Carlos Vermut; and, the drama 'The Broken Circle Breakdown' (aka 'Alabama Monroe'), directed by Felix van Groeningen, written by Johan Heldenbergh, Mieke Dobbels, Carl Joos, Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch.
