Catalan singer Rosalía has released the first single and video from her upcoming album, 'Motomami'.

The song, 'La Fama', is a collaboration with Canadian pop star The Weeknd. It's not the first time the pair have worked together, as Rosalía previously appeared on a version of 'Blinding Lights'.

Rosalía explained that she wanted to write a song with 'bachata' whythms in her own unique style, with "a little story about ambition."

She highlighted her lyrical influence from artists such as Rubén Blades and Patti Smith, and using the theme of adventure, she "ended up writing a romance story with 'La Fama'."

Rosalía – who is from Sant Esteve Sesrovires, just outside Barcelona, and studied at the prestigious ESMUC music school – is arguably one of the biggest music stars ever to emerge from Catalonia.

Following the stunning success of 'El Mal Querer' and its daring pop experimentation with flamenco music, Rosalía went on to establish herself as a household name with a string of collaborations featuring some of the biggest music stars in the world, including Bad Bunny, Travis Scott and The Weeknd.

Her collaboration with Billie Eilish, 'Lo vas a olvidar', recently won them the Best Latin MTV Video Music Award.
