The Madrid mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, announced on Wednesday evening that the city council is considering launching an investigation into Rosalia's acts on Monday evening during the presentation of her fourth, and latest, album, 'Lux.'

Almeida said that they are investigating the Catalan singer for "severe security incidents" at Callao Square, next to the Gran Via boulevard in the Spanish capital.

However, he was happy that a "global artist" such as Rosalia, from Sant Esteve Sesrovires, chose Madrid to present her latest album. But, he added that things could have been done "differently."

Hundreds of people took to Callao Square after Rosalia announced during a TikTok Live with her friends that she was heading to Callao and that some things would happen in that area. Rosalia was seen, live on TikTok, and by passersby driving a white car and being stuck in traffic due to her announcement.

Madrid authorities are considering investigating her due to her actions, which ended up causing traffic to be blocked, bus routes to be diverted, closing down a metro station, and sending riot police to protect people.

Rosalia could be fined if she had not requested a prior license to organize such an event with hundreds of people, surpassing the threshold set by the Spanish delegation of 20 people.

Madrid's mayor said that the law has to be "enforced to everyone as equal," and that "there cannot be any exceptions to fines."

Some media outlets are reporting that the Catalan singer could face fines of up to €600,000 due to her actions.

On Monday night, Rosalia officially presented her latest album using Callao's large LED screens. However, the announcement had already been spoiled, as someone had shared a photo of New York City's Times Square with the same ad a few hours before the events in Madrid.

Features and collaborations

Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz, the Escolania de Montserrat, the Palau de la Música Catalana chamber choir, Yahritza, and Yves Tumor all feature on the new album.

The album was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daníel Bjarnason, and is divided into four movements.

The album has a total of 18 songs, with titles such as 'Mio cristo', 'Reliquia', 'Berghain', 'De madrugá', 'Jeanne', 'La jugular', 'Memória' or 'Magnolias'.

Among the themes explored on the album are feminine mysticism, transformation, transcendence and also intimacy.
