The summer festivals continue in Catalonia with the 10th edition of the Cruïlla Festival in Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum, which kicked off yesterday and lasts until Saturday.

The pop-focussed music festival sees international superstars like Kylie Minogue, Foals, and the Black Eyed Peas come to the Catalan capital to perform.

Years & Years, Parov Stelar, Michael Kiwanuka, Bastille, Gang Of Youths, ZAZ and Vetusta Morla are also listed on the stellar lineup.

Also appearing this festival is a comedy lineup, with names such as Tomàs Fuentes, Iggy Rubin, and Valeria Ros offering fans a chance to sit down, relax, and laugh without leaving the festival site.

Marching brass bands throughout the site will ensure the party never dies down, while the spectacular La Fura dels Baus, specialists in social theatre, will also be on show around the park.

World’s first 5G festival

Technology is going to feature heavily in this edition of Cruïlla, with fans getting a close-up view of 5G connectivity.

Thanks to the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, and various technology companies within the framework of the 5G Barcelona initiative, fans will get a taste of some of the most cutting-edge and experimental festival experiences.

Virtual Reality headsets will give fans immersive and unique views of living the concerts of their favorite artists from the stage. This is made possible by a 360-degree camera being placed on the stage during the performance, offering festival-goers a new angle to the entertainment.

The music will also be heard through the headsets practically in real-time thanks to the 5G connectivity.

Cruïlla Festival is also working in solidarity with the Open Arms refugee rescue ship this year. Fans were given the option of making a donation to the NGO upon purchase of their ticket, and the group will be present at the festival to help spread awareness and information.
