Catalan filmmaker David Victori to present ‘La Culpa’ at Venice Film Festival

Catalan filmmaker David Victori’s short film has passed a rigorous selection process and will be shown at the Venice Film Festival. His submission, ‘La Culpa’ which deals with the emotions of guilt and revenge, participated in ‘Your Film Festival’ that is organised by Youtube. Victori’s submission is one of the ten short-listed, out of 15,000 original entries. The winner will receive a prize of $500,000 for the production of a short film.

Barcelona (ACN).- Catalan filmmaker David Victori has reached the final of the ‘Your Film Festival’, an important short film contest organised by YouTube. The short film, ‘La Culpa’ (‘Guilt’ in English), which looks into the emotions of guilt and revenge, has passed a rigorous selection process, being one of the ten films short-listed out of the 15,000 original entries. Furthermore, the short-film will be shown at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, held from August 29th to September 8th. The film will be shown at the Italian festival at a special screening on Sunday September 2nd, with director Ridley Scott and actor Michael Fassbender as judges to evaluate the combination of work that went into the film and the final piece presented. The winner of the Youtube’s festival will receive a prize of $500,000 for the production of a short film with Scott and Fassbender.


‘Guilt’ was premiered in 2010 at the Sitges ’ International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, where it began a triumphal tour of festivals. The film, shot on a staircase of a building in Barcelona, was one of 15,000 short films from around the world that was presented in the ‘Your Film Festival’ organised by Youtube. David Victori’s short film passed the rigorous selection process and ended up one of the final ten to be selected.

New film with Oberon and Alberto Marini

At the moment, David Victori is preparing a new film with Oberon and working on a script with Alberto Marini, who wrote ‘Mientras Duermes’ by Jaume Balagueró. The film will be a thriller and shooting will begin in 2013.
