Bob Dylan and Kiss captivate Barcelona concertgoers

Nothing like celebrating summer solstice with rock and roll legends. Sant Joan festivities brought more than just fireworks and bubbling cava. Folk singer Bob Dylan and rockers Kiss captivated the city with their music in two concerts on Thursday.

Barcelona (CNA).- Concertgoers were left with a tough decision this Thursday, as the famous American rock band Kiss played at the same time as the Bob Dylan show. The Kiss concert took place at the Sant Jordi pavilion, while Dylan’s was in Poble Espanyol. Folk singer-songwriter Bob Dylan remains one the few living music legends of our time, and he is still at it. Dylan has finally returned to the Catalan capital after 6 years.
The Minnesota-born musician played in Barcelona’s Poble Espanyol, an open-air venue designed to look like a merge of typical monuments and villages across Spain. The show was one of two concerts in Spain; the other takes place today in Vitoria, Spain. This tour marks the release of Dylan’s new album, ‘Together through Life’. The concert was, of course, sold out, with a total of 5,000 in attendance. The crowd reminisced and sang the night away to all of the folk legend’s hits, including “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, “Tangled up in Blue”, “Blowin’ in the Wind”, and “Just like a Woman”. The musician was dylanesque, as he distorted many of his songs by shortening or enlarging them, sang with a deeper voice and sometimes really challenged the audience to recognise the song.

In the Palau Sant Jordi, another classic was playing. Kiss’ current tour brings the band to Barcelona after an 11 year European hiatus. They are also promoting a new album, entitled “Sonic Boom”. The band, clad in face-paint and extravagant stage outfits, played their hits such as “Love Gun,” “Detroit Rock City”, and “Rock and Roll all Night”.
