Barcelona to consider statue of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé at Montjuïc Magic Fountain
City councilor for culture accepts PP's idea for consideration but doesn't guarantee it will be viable

The Barcelona City Council will consider erecting a statue of singers Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé at the Montjuïc Magic Fountain.
The homage would remind the world of the pair's 1992 Olympic Games anthem, 'Barcelona'.
The idea was proposed by the conservative People's Party on Tuesday. The city council has accepted the request for consideration, although municipal councilor for culture, Xavier Marcé, said he could not guarantee that the idea will be viable.
He also pointed out that Barcelona already plans to dedicate a viewpoint in Les Glòries to Mercury and Caballé.
Marcé said that Barcelona has an Advisory Council for Urban Art which is the competent body which will consider "if it makes sense" or "how it is financed."
In any case, the vice-president of the Barcelona Institute of Culture has agreed to present the initiative to this body.
