The Lledoners prison board has ruled on Thursday in favor of granting jailed independence leaders Jordi Turull and Josep Rull regular temporary release.

Turull, the former Catalan presidency minister, and Rull, the former Catalan territory minister, will be allowed to leave prison from Monday to Friday for 12 hours every day.

The Catalan government has not disclosed when they will begin to leave prison, nor where they will be working or volunteering.

With Thursday's announcement that Turull and Rull will also be able to leave prison, that means that all nine of those imprisoned for their roles behind the 2017 independence referendum in Catalonia have been granted regular temporary release.

On Thursday, a penitentiary court in Catalonia also authorized regular temporary release for jailed independence leader Jordi Cuixart despite Spain's prosecutor's opposition.
