Sagrada Família star lights up, altering Barcelona's skyline foreverYour browser does not support the video element<p dir="ltr"><span>Today is a very special day for the city of Barcelona and all of its residents, as today, the skyline of the Catalan capital has been given a new addition. </span></p> <p dir="ltr">The star that sits atop the tower of the Virgin Mary, what will be the second-tallest tower of the iconic basilica, has been lit up for the first time ever. </p> <p dir="ltr"><span>The 5.5-tonne 12-point star lights up what will be the second-tallest tower of the whole basilica when it is finished, although the tallest, which will be dedicated to Jesus Christ, is not yet built. </span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>The star that now illuminates the sky of the Catalan capital is a 7.5 metre long, 5.5 tonne, 12-pointed weatherproof star made out of textured glass and stainless steel, and sits on top of the 138 metre tall Virgin Mary Tower.
