09-Apr-21: 'Former parliament bureau member sentenced over 2017 independence push'

He was convicted for disobedience and will have to pay a 12,000-euro fine. </span></span></p> <p><span><span id="docs-internal-guid-d6c85903-7fff-3c6c-f431-ee14d245a177"><span>Esquerra MP Joan Josep Nuet will lose his seat in the Spanish congress after the Supreme Court sentence that disqualifies him. The judges believe that the 2017 chamber bureau member consciously disobeyed Spain's courts to contribute to the independence push. Nuet said the verdict is a punishment against dialogue and politics.</span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span><span id="docs-internal-guid-3ba605a3-7fff-5809-f3be-410725083a45"><span>The number of patients in intensive care due to Covid-19 is increasing worryingly &ndash; the count has roughly grown from 400 to 500 in barely two weeks.
