Around 95,000 people are expected to attend this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona between February 26 and February 29.

Organizers are hoping to surpass the figure for last year, when 88,500 people attended, but are not expecting to reach pre-pandemic levels at what they call the "world's largest connectivity event."

Mats Granryd, director general of the GSMA, the organizers of the congress, outlined their aspirations at a presentation event on Thursday at the old Estrella Damm Brewery.

Barcelona is set to once again become the global capital of digital technology, hosting a trade show that will focus on artificial intelligence applications and will feature a flying car prototype.

In light of the ongoing drought in Catalonia, MWC are asking visitors to use water responsibly while visiting.

Lara Dewar, chief marketing officer at GSMA said visitors will see "game changing innovations" in areas like "AI, health, and sustainability," as well as "the world's first flying car."
