Tordera (ACN).- The retail multinational giant Inditex, which owns Zara, Zara Home, Massimo Dutti, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Oysho, among other brands, is expanding its business in Catalonia. Inditex will base Massimo Dutti’s world headquarters in the Catalan coastal town of Tordera, located 60km north of Barcelona, according to the town’s Mayor Joan Carles Garcia, who announced the news on Wednesday. In fact, Inditex has been present in Tordera for more than 10 years where it has its second largest logistics centre in the world. The Spanish clothing company is building in Tordera the most technologically advanced warehouse in Europe to distribute all Massimo Dutti’s clothes worldwide in less than one week. For that reason, Inditex has decided to locate Massimo Dutti’s world headquarters in the town. Massimo Dutti’s main office will create jobs in administration, design, and information technology, among other types. The building will be based off the main N-2 route and next to the new warehouse.

The building will be 30,000 square metres and located just in front of the new distribution warehouse. Construction work is expected to begin immediately, after receiving the green light from the Catalan Ministry for Public Works and Sustainability.

Inditex is already building the most technologically advanced warehouse in Europe

Inditex bought the old warehouse of Fibracolor, which closed two years ago in Tordera. It is currently being transformed into a giant 110,000 square metre warehouse that will store clothes on hangers and will be the most technologically advanced plant in Europe. The warehouse will mainly store products from the group’s brand Massimo Dutti, which will be distributed across the world in less than a week. Inditex’s plans are to open the warehouse in the spring. The group is investing €120 million in the first two years to pay for construction work and the machinery of the warehouse. No figures have been released about the headquarters building yet.

Inditex is consolidating its presence in Catalonia

Inditex set up in Tordera 10 years ago, as a distributor for Massimo Dutti, Oysho and Bershka. Besides central services, such as management, commercial and design departments, the group uses Tordera to distribute the three brands worldwide to a total of 1,700 shops.
