Inflation in Spain drops to 2.2% in April driven by lower gas and electricity prices
Consumer Price Index fell 0.1 percentage point

Inflation in Spain dropped to 2.2% in April mainly driven by lower gas and electricity prices, according to preliminary figures released on Tuesday by Spain’s Statistics Institute (INE).
The Consumer Price Index (IPC in Spanish) fell by 0.1 percentage nationwide.
The slight decline is mainly attributed to falling gas prices, which had risen during the same period last year, along with a sharper drop in electricity prices compared to 2024.
Fuel and lubricant prices also continued to decrease after seeing significant increases a year ago.
On the contrary, leisure and cultural activities saw price increases. Core inflation, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, rose by 0.4 percentage points to 2.4%.
On a month-to-month basis, the IPC climbed to 0.6%, up from 0.1% in March.
