Inflation in Catalonia rises to 2.4% in August
Prices edge up a tenth but remain below Spanish average

Inflation in Catalonia rose by one-tenth in August to 2.4%, Spain’s National Statistics Institute reported on Friday.
This is the highest inflation rate since February, when it stood at 3.1%, following the third consecutive month of year-on-year price increases.
However, Catalonia’s inflation remains below the Spanish average of 2.7%, which held steady at the same level as in July.
The stability in prices over the past month is mainly explained by electricity, which had risen a year ago and thus offset upward pressure from fuel costs.
