Catalonia attracted 845 million euros in foreign investment in the third quarter of this year, a 56% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the economy ministry.

Yet, foreign investment in the country since January amounted to 1.84 billion euros, less than the 2.21 billion registered in the first nine months of 2017, which is a drop of 16.5%.

The overall fall in foreign investment is due to the first two quarters of 2018, with the figures rallying in the past three months, at 306 million more than the 539 million from last year.

So far this year, Catalonia has received 1.84 billion euros in foreign investment, and will need to attract another 1.45 billion in the last quarter to supersede the 3.27 billion total in 2017.
