Catalan exports grow 16.1% year-on-year in February to €8.58bn

Catalan sales abroad continued to grow during the second month of 2023, when companies exported 16.1% more compared to February 2022, as announced on Thursday by Spain's industry ministry.

Chemical products once again made up the largest bulk of Catalonia's exports, 29.7% of the total and worth €2.547bn, 8.5% more than a year prior. Car sales followed chemical products exports as numbers doubled, reaching €1.58 million, a 101.8% increase.

Sales abroad increased in all Catalan regions, especially in Barcelona (19.5%) and Girona (6.6%).

Regarding imports, these increased by 8.4%, reaching €9.51 billion. 

A quarter of Spain's exports from Catalonia

Overall in Spain, exports during January 2023 amounted to €32.83 billion, a 9.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Slightly over a quarter of these sales abroad, 26.1%, were from Catalonia, more than anywhere else in Spain.
