The port of Barcelona expects to welcome 806 cruise ships in 2024 and to see a 6% reduction of those larger vessels that carry more than 5,000 travelers compared to figures seen in 2023.

Most of the boats that will dock in the Catalan capital’s port, 54% are younger than ten years, with a dozen sailing for the first time and departing from Barcelona, such as the Seven Seas Splendor, Odyssey of the Seas, Sun Princess, and the Emerald Sakara.

Authorities have also revealed that 22% of the boats that will dock in Barcelona are ready to work with liquified natural gas owned by the MSC and Carnival cruise ships groups.

One of the highlights of port authorities is the number of modern vessels, which they consider a way of “confirming a successful strategy” to bring newer, more environmentally friendly boats.
