Barcelona airport hits 5.2m passengers in September, keeping record-breaking trend
Catalan infrastructure sees 44 million travelers between January and September, 4.1% more than same period in 2024

The Josep Tarradellas Barcelona El Prat airport saw 5,279.003 passengers in September, increasing by 4.3% on 2024 data and continuing with its monthly record-breaking trend, as Spain's airport manager AENA announced on Monday.
Between January and September, the airport registered 43,675,764 passengers, a 4.1% increase compared to last year. This is already a record, as 2024 had been the best year in the airport's history.
Of September's passengers, 5,272,148 flew commercial, and 4,025,821 flew international, a 6.3% increase over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, 1,246,327 people traveled on domestic flights, representing a 1.7% drop from September 2024 figures.
During September, 32,402 operations occurred, an increase of 2.3% from 2024 and setting a new record for the month of September. Since the start of the year, 273,451 plane operations have occurred, marking an all-time high.
In August, Barcelona airport broke records, handling 5.6 million passengers.
The northern airport of Girona-Costa Brava saw 1,875,000 passengers between January and September, with 299,797 only for September.
Reus, in the south, registered 1,184,990 travelers, an increase of 12.9% compared to the previous year. In September, Reus registered 207,811 passengers, 15.7% more than in 2024.
