Amazon to lay off 1,200 workers from Barcelona and Madrid offices
Measure as part of company's global scheme to cut 14,000 jobs

Amazon is considering laying off around 1,200 workers from its offices in Barcelona and Madrid, as confirmed by company sources to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) on Friday.
The measure is part of the company's global scheme to eliminate 14,000 current jobs from its 350,000 corporate workers.
The company has already issued two different layoff schemes in both cities, one for Amazon Spain Services, its company in the Catalan capital, and one for Amazon Digital Spain, in Madrid.
At the moment, sources at the Catalan labor department said that the scheme has not yet been issued.
Company sources say that the layoff schemes would only impact corporate workers.
Across Spain, Amazon has around 28,000 workers, including corporate and warehouse employees.
Recently, Facebook's moderator company located in Barcelona closed, leaving thousands of employees uncertain. A few months later, hundreds of them filed a complaint for "severe mental health injuries."
