"The 2017 independence push created a collective excitement in a part of Catalonia, but after the failure to exit Spain disappointment came and this disappointment has to be managed. Painful or not, the truth is that there have been several phases [in the road to independence]. It was in full swing in 2017 but now the momentum is clearly gone," Ernesto Pascual, political analyst, said.
