After hours of tension, squatters in two high-profile squat houses were evicted today in Barcelona, with seven people arrested. El Kubo and La Ruïna, owned by Spain’s bad bank Sareb, were emptied after a large police operation lasting around five hours. Squatters resisted by throwing flammable liquids, sacks of rubble, firecrackers, and smoke canisters at officers. Catalonia’s interior minister and Barcelona’s mayor praised the work of the police.
