Catalonia’s population has officially surpassed eight million, with one in five people born abroad. 36 years after reaching 6 million inhabitants, Catalonia is now home to two million more people, a population growth largely driven by the influx of migrants from abroad. The population is aging, overall, and the fertility rate is low, but the population keeps growing thanks to migration.
