Clara Ponsatí, the deposed education minister, is fighting against extradition. Spain wants to prosecute her for violent rebellion and misuse of public funds, as it is doing so with other members of the Carles Puigdemont government. Scotland has allowed her to be free while the case is assessed, a very different approach to that taken for Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont. He is still in a prison in Germany, where he was arrested on Sunday. Seven Catalan politicians are in exile seeking to get a fairer trial than what they think they would get in Spain. All are free but Puigdemont. Nine others are already in jail in Madrid. And today, the Parliament said their political rights should be respected.
