29-Feb-24: 'Spanish Supreme Court decide to prosecute Carles Puigdemont for terrorism'
The Spanish Supreme Court has opened criminal proceedings against Carles Puigdemont for terrorism, linking the former Catalan president with the Tsunami Democratic protests following the sentencing of the leaders of the 2017 independence referendum. The courts have also opened proceedings against former Esquerra MP Ruben Wagensberg. The decision is at odds with the prosecutor’s opinion that there is no cause to link Puigdemont with the pro-independence protests.
