21-Dec-23: 'Catalan president and Spanish PM reach deals in BCN'
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez met with Catalan president Pere Aragonès in Barcelona for the first time since Sánchez was reelected with the support of Catalan pro-independence parties. The two leaders agreed on transferring control of the targeted basic income to Catalonia, to a renewal of talks between the two executives in early 2024, and on a law to guarantee Catalan-speakers rights when dealing with Spanish administration.
