16-Nov-23: 'Pedro Sánchez reelected Spanish PM with support of pro-indy parties'
Socialist Pedro Sánchez has been reelected as Spain's prime minister in a vote in Congress today. 179 members of parliament backed Sánchez including those of Catalan pro-independence parties Junts and Esquerra. Among the deals reached, there is an amnesty law for Catalans involved in the independence push, which has caused controversy. Catalan president Pere Aragonès has already warned that they will demand the deals to be complied with from minute one.
