1-Dec-23: 'HIV infections up in 2022 but down by a third over 5 years'
HIV infections increased in Catalonia in 2022, but are down by a third over the past five years. There were 460 new cases of HIV detected last year, down from 727 in 2017. Nearly 60% of new cases were in men who have sex with men. Around 9,000 people received PrEP, the HIV prevention pill last year, with another 3,000 on a waiting list of around 12 months.
