Two jewels of Catalan architecture will act as the backdrop for the teams' presentation at the 2026 Tour de France.

The presentation, on July 2, two days ahead of the first stage of the tour, will see riders cycle from the Historic old modernist hospital site of Sant Pau down Avinguda Gaudí to the Sagrada Familia.

The news was announced on Tuesday at an event where the Tour de France trophy was brought to the city of Barcelona, now that the 2025 edition has ended, with Tadej Pogačar coming out top of the pack to win his fourth Tour de France

In the coming weeks, the trophy will be on display in the Olympic and Sports Museum in Montjuïc.

The presentation of the teams in Barcelona will act as the starting gun for the Grand Départ 2026, which will run until July 6, 2026, passing through the capital and several other Catalan cities such as Tarragona and Granollers.

The event will be open free to all citizens.

The first stage of the tour then will take place on Saturday, July 4, with a 19.7km team time trial through the Catalan capital. The route will start in Parc del Fòrum and finish in Montjuïc, passing by the Sagrada Familia on the way.

The second stage, starting in Tarragona and finishing in Barcelona, will take place on July 5 with a route of 178 kilometers. The first part of the route, very flat, will pass through towns such as Torredembarra, El Vendrell, Vilanova i la Geltrú, and Sitges until reaching Begues and, later, ending in Barcelona. As in the initial stage, the passage through the city will end with a final circuit with the climb to Montjuïc Castle.
