The Rocky Horror Show returns to Barcelona for a two-week run at the Teatre Coliseum, starring Jason Donovan as the iconic Frank-N-Furter.

The Australian actor and musician who first found fame on the hit soap Neighbours told Catalan News the whole cast were "very excited" to be in Barcelona.

Richard O'Brien's legendary rock 'n' roll musical opens this Thursday and will run for 13 performances until November 2.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe, The Rocky Horror Show is a party everyone is invited to and features timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the "pelvic-thrusting, show-stopping Time Warp."

A wild party

"It's a wonderful night out at the theatre, like a wild party," James Bisp, who plays Brad, told Catalan News in an interview at the show's presentation event on Thursday at the Teatre Coliseum in Barcelona.

Bisp's co-star, Haley Flaherty, who plays Janet, urged people to "come and experience for themselves" the show's famously interactive atmosphere.

"It's sexy, it's funny, there's a heart to it, the music is amazing, and it's got great dance numbers," she said. "If you haven't been, just come!"

Flaherty also highlighted the "amazing band," direct from London's West End.

A cult classic bursting with glam rock, camp, and chaos, The Rocky Horror Show follows a young couple whose car breaks down outside the wild home of mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

"It's essentially a story about a mad scientist that has deluded dreams of grandeur and he falls on his sword a little bit," said Donovan, who returns to a role he first played in 1998.

"It's not just a musical, it's like a rock concert," smiled Donovan.

The show is performed in English with subtitles in Spanish with live music by the Rocky Horror band.
