Catalan companies are once again showing off their latest innovations at the 2026 Mobile World Congress.

Among the highlights this year are glasses for people with low vision, a device to control orthodontics, and an agricultural robot for the treatment of fungi in horticulture.

In total, there are 44 Catalan companies and technology centers at the Generalitat (Catalan government) stand, as well as 62 start-ups at 4 Years From Now (4YFN), the section of the trade show for emerging businesses and ideas.

In fact, three of the five finalists for the 4YFN26 Awards are Catalan, including fintech firm Dost, security platform NeuralTrust, and health tech company Biorce.

Smart glasses for visually impaired

The company Biel Glasses, with its headquarters at the TecnoCampus in Mataró, is presenting a new version of its smart glasses for people with low vision at MWC26.

The idea came from the son of one of the founders, Biel, a child with vision and mobility problems.

"The only solutions that existed before were a cane or a guide dog, and these mixed reality glasses try to solve the problem in a broader way," explained Alex Cabañeros, head of operations at Biel Glasses.

"They analyze the scene, detect any risk to the person and, through graphic and auditory indications, make them perceive where the obstacles are so that they can avoid them," Cabañeros added.

The glasses have been on the market since November, and now the company are presenting an updated version, smaller and more portable, at a price of €4,900.

The glasses are accompanied by a processor that, using AI and robotics algorithms, analyzes the scene before the person.

Monitoring for prostheses and orthodontics

One of the outstanding proposals at this year's trade show from the Eurecat technology centre are the OrthoTrack and DentalTag prototypes.

"The first is a small geolocation device for conventional dental prostheses, and its function is to detect them in the event of loss and thus avoid additional costs," explained dentist Mònica Badrena.

This is thought for elderly people in residences, who may also have low vision, dementia, or Alzheimer's.

The second device is the DentalTag, which has another function of monitoring orthodontics in adolescents.

"The success of many orthodontics is based on the time of use and here we will be able to monitor remotely that everything is done correctly," the dentist said, who asked for help from Eurecat to create the two prototypes.

Robot to treat fungi

Start-up Agrikola.AI, based in Sant Cugat del Vallès, presents the latest version of its autonomous agricultural robot, Wagus, for the treatment of fungi in crops.

"It uses ultraviolet light to eliminate fungi and in a completely automated way, since the exact coordinates can be set," said CEO and founder of Agrikola.AI, Ricard Pardell.

"We take work away from the farmer, reduce costs, and make everything more ecological," Pardell added, who estimates that the solution is "10 to 15 times more economical and ecological" than the traditional one.

The robot is connected to the internet and carries out the treatment in the field after the farmer has previously entered the coordinates in the cloud.

The founder explains that pilot tests in farms in the Maresme and the Llobregat Delta have gone "very well, with treatments on zucchini, lettuce, and onion crops."
