FC Barcelona's Spotify Camp Nou stadium could host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final. The site competes against London's Wembley Stadium to be the home of the most crucial match in European football.

The Spanish football federation proposed the venue, which will now undergo the vetting process. The English site is also attempting to be named the host stadium.

The organizing body's executive committee will appoint the chosen site in September 2026, as the UEFA announced on Friday midday.

In total, it has received declarations of interest from fifteen member associations to host the 2028 and 2029 finals of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, and UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The declarations of interest are not binding, and the final proposals must be delivered with the bid dossiers by 10 June 2026.

Camp Nou was home to the UEFA Champions League final in 1999 facing Manchester United against Bayern, with an English victory 2-1. Ten years earlier, it hosted the final between Milan and Steaua, 4-0.

The 2026 final will be hosted in Budapest, and in 2027, in Madrid's Metropolitano. The 2028 final has only one potential candidate, Germany's Fußball Arena München.

Meanwhile, the UEFA Women's Champions League final could be, once again, hosted at Bilbao's San Mamés in 2028. The site was home to the 2024 final facing FC Barcelona's Women's team against Olympique Lyonnais, with a 2-0 result in favor of the culés.

Camp Nou return

Barça’s return to playing at Camp Nou has been delayed for months, after several announced comeback dates were later postponed by the club.

The club initially said in August that the team would return for the season, but after multiple postponements, it ultimately refused to set a specific date.

In October, the stadium received its first occupancy license from the city council for Phase 1A, allowing a limited capacity of 27,000 spectators.

However, the club has already announced that it will wait to obtain Phase 1B approval before returning to Camp Nou, which would increase capacity to around 45,000.

Although no official date has been confirmed, several reports suggest Barça could return to Camp Nou by late November or early December.
