Catalonia’s men’s national team has defeated Jaimaca’s football team in a friendly match on Wednesday. The final score of 6-0 is proof of the strong connection between the players. Gerard Deulofeu was the man of the match after scoring a hat-trick.

The forward scored in just the third minute of the match after a bad pass from the Jamaican defense to its goalkeeper. Deulofeu then scored again on 28 minutes after FC Barcelona player Riqui Puig set him up.

The third goal came from the team's newly appointed captain, Marc Bartra. And then, the fourth one by Deulofeu came in the 44th minute, just before halftime. Ferran Jutglà, a player from FC Barcelona B, scored the fifth goal of the match after an assist from Javi Puado in the 75th minute.

The last goal of the game arrived in the 89th minute via a Javi Puado penalty.

The match was played in Girona’s FC Montilivi stadium and is the first game Catalonia’s men’s national team has played since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

On May 19, Gerard López, Catalonia’s team trainer, announced the players that would be part of the game. Among them, López called up two FC Barcelona players, two from the Espanyol FC team, and four from the Andalusian team, Betis.

In the second half, López made changes to the lineup with players such as Riqui Puig, Cristian Tello, Marc Barta, and Gerard Deulofeu leaving the field.

In total, 6,124 spectators followed the game from Montilivi’s stands, two-thirds of the full stadium capacity (9,285, according to the Spanish LaLiga competition body). The game was broadcasted via Catalonia’s public broadcaster TV3.
