Barcelona City Council will install a giant screen to show the Euro 2024 final between Spain and England.

The screen will broadcast the game, which will be played on Sunday, July 14, at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, starting at 9 pm.

The location of the screen will be Plaça de Catalunya square as announced by Barcelona councilor for sports, David Escudé, on X, formerly Twitter, and it is "yet another example of the local council's strategy to make Barcelona a key player internationally for sports, as well as promoting large competitions," a statement shared by the council on Wednesday reads.

"Barcelona reinforces its commitment to make sporting events a large, open celebration for everyone," Jaume Collboni, Barcelona mayor, said in the statement. This way, "all fans will be able to enjoy the game with this large screen, and above all, a victory for the Spanish men's football team," he added.

On May 18, 2024, the city installed a giant screen in Plaça de Catalunya to follow the UEFA Women's Champions League final, when FC Barcelona faced Olympique Lyonnais. Back then, the local team won. On August 20, 2023, the city also installed a large screen inside the Vall d'Hebron Olympics sports arena to watch the Women's World Cup final,  won by Spain.

Socialist Jaume Collboni took over as mayor in June 2023, with Barcelona hosting the America's Cup sailing championship from August until October this year, as well as the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2026. Recently, it was home to a Formula 1 Road Show in the city center.
