1,500-kilometre journey to bring together Catalan-speaking territories
The flame of the Correllengua Agermanat will travel through Northern Catalonia, Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and Alghero

More than one hundred municipal organisations have joined forces to promote the unity and vitality of the Catalan language through the Correllengua Agermanat.
Aimed at "overcoming administrative borders" the cultural and sporting project was officially presented on Tuesday with simultaneous events in Barcelona, Valencia, and Palma.
It seeks to strengthen ties between Catalan-speaking territories and promote the everyday use of the language as "a common element that unites all who share it," according to the organisers.
From April 19 to May 5 2026, the flame of the Correllengua Agermanat will travel through 17 stages and more than 1,500 kilometres, symbolically linking Northern Catalonia (France), Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and Alghero (Sardinia).
Building on forty years of Correllengua events held across Catalan-speaking regions, the Correllengua Agermanat will begin in Prada de Conflent (Prades, France) and pass through cities including Girona, Barcelona, Tarragona, Castelló, Valencia, Alacant (Alicante), Eivissa (Ibiza), Palma (Mallorca), Maó (Menorca), and Alghero.
A blend of cultural and sporting spirit, the Correllengua Agermanat draws inspiration from the Basque Korrika, combining a non-competitive relay run with community celebrations, concerts, and cultural activities. The symbolic flame will be passed hand to hand through municipalities, universities, and public spaces.
Along the route, more than one hundred local organisations will host concerts, meetings, workshops, and sporting and cultural events open to all.
First launched in Mallorca in 1995 by Joves de Mallorca per la Llengua (Youth of Mallorca for the Language), the Correllengua quickly spread to Valencia and Catalonia. Since then, hundreds of towns and cities have hosted their own versions of the event, each adapting it to local traditions and formats.
