The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalonia's police force) arrested two men, aged 38 and 46, for an alleged burglary at a library in the Les Corts district of Barcelona last Saturday.

Around 11 am, May 3, police were called to attend the library, where two men had reportedly forced the open door to a restricted room not accessible to users of the facility. Inside the room electronic equipment was stored, reaching a value of more than €3000.

The burglary did not succeed thanks to the door's built-in alarm system.

When police arrived, they found the two suspects surveilling the library and communicating via earpieces. A search revealed tools used for breaking and entering, leading to their arrest.

Both men had extensive criminal records, with one facing two active arrest warrants for recent high-value thefts, one for the theft of audiovisual equipment valued at €28,000 from Movistar during the Conde de Godó tennis tournament and another one for the theft of four laptops at a hotel. Investigators, aided by the tennis event organizers, quickly identified the suspects.

In all cases, the same method was used: breaking into buildings, targeting electronics, and attempting to sell them on the black market. The investigation is ongoing
